Nicola Watters

Nicola's childhood was spent on the Fylde coast in Lancashire, where her love of the English countryside and everything to do with the sea originates. Having gained her Honours degree in
Illustration at Manchester University, she moved south to further her career working in publishing, design and textiles. She now works full time as an artist from her farmhouse studio in rural Hertfordshire. Her work is inspired by the countryside surrounding her home and summers spent in Devon and Cornwall each year.

Nicola is an avid collector of beautiful things and the delights of the natural world - “I am drawn to the subtle colours of shells, particularly pearlised ones (and indeed buttons!)”. Her earliest
memories are of gathering shells on the beach with her grandmother at 'Granny's Bay', Lytham where she
still visits today.

Following in the footsteps of ancestors working in the textile industry Nicola has always had a fascination for
textiles, in particular vintage fabrics. She is always on the lookout for new ones to add to her collections. She had amassed
such a medley of exquisite objects and wanted to find a way to display them. She found that framing them in her eclectic
way not only showed off their charm and delicacy but also they became a piece of art in themselves.
